Building WordPress Themes For Builders – An Interview with Zooka Studio on the Builder WordPress Theme

Zooka Studio recently released Builder – The Building and Construction WordPress Theme on ThemeForest. Builder is Zooka Studio’s fifth theme. The Builder theme is aimed at providing an easy-to-use theme for anyone in the home building industry – from architects to engineers and from painters to plumbers.

The Builder theme offers three demos tailor made to meet the needs of those in the construction industry. It includes free premium plugins including Visual Composer, Slider Revolution, and Templatera. Additionally, it supports WooCommerce integration for those companies that want to offer their products or services for sale directly on their site.

Theme Support caught up with Frankie Kao, the CEO and Founder of Zooka Studio to ask him a few questions about the theme:

 

Q: Frankie, what inspired you to create a theme for builders and those in the construction industry?

A: We conducted research and construction websites are a hot trend right now. In the past I designed a successful construction theme and I wanted to update this and add some new modern ideas. So I sat down at the drawing board and we created Builder!

 

Q: In creating a theme so tailored to a specific niche, what kind of research did you have to do in order to identify the needs of builders?

A: As usual, before designing any theme, I have to carefully research recent trends, customers’ needs in the industry and some other unique aspects. I focused on researching for audiences in America and Europe. In my opinion, the American construction industry is growing extremely fast and has a large need.

 

Q: Do you see this theme being a better match for larger corporate firms, such as architects and construction companies, or are you targeting the theme for small one-man plumbers and electricians?

A: In my original idea, Builder was more suitable for Architecture companies than for Construction companies. However, we broadened the scope and I now highly recommend you use Builder for both of them. Besides, you are free to apply Builder for any construction related topic such as plumbers and electricians. The plan is to continue to release new business service themes but these themes targets will follow a unique purpose (e.g., a Plumber Theme) – certainly not a general theme like others.

 

Q: This is the fifth release from Zooka Studio. Was this one easier to get out the door now that you had four others already under your belt?

A: I bet you know this simple rule: everything is easier when you have experience! And that is certainly the case for us too. One note for anyone submitting to ThemeForest: reviewers have become more fastidious than before and the review time also lasts dramatically longer. So if you are going to submit keep in mind this tip – be patient and choose the right submission time.

 

Q: Of all the features and work that you have put into Builder, what excites you the most about it?

A: The first thing that comes to mind after you finished your question is our “One click Import Demo” feature. It’s super easy to install the Builder demo as seen on ThemeForest, while installing other themes can be such torture! With Builder, after a few very simple instructions and a 20 second wait you will have successfully installed Builder. We have already studied and innovated many times to bring the best experience for our customers.

 

Q: Will Zooka be releasing another theme soon and if so, what industry do you intend to target with the next release?

A: I have built out a list of topics about Handyman / Renovation Services, Hair Salon and Lawyers / Attorneys. Recently, our development staff is working on these projects simultaneously. Don’t miss the chance to see our upcoming themes.
