If you are using a shared server hosting provider such as GoDaddy, DreamHost, BlueHost, HostMonster, or HostGator, then you run the risk of having your WordPress website blocked by firewalls if other sites on your same shared server are flagged as having “adult content.” This can happen even if these other websites aren’t ‘pornographic’ and thus are allowed by these hosts. However, if these sites have been flagged as having ‘inappropriate content’ or are aimed at mature themes such as violence, drugs, or gambling, then your entire server might be blocked because you are on a shared environment. This can affect your business, even if your WordPress site doesn’t have any of this content.
When this happens, we recommend moving to a managed hosting environment. At ThemeSupport, we bundle WP Engine into our WordPress hosting/support/maintenance packages. WP Engine is a managed hosting environment that doesn’t have this same issue. You can see our support packages here.
We know that having your website blocked by firewalls can be frustrating. If you are having issues with your WordPress Website being blocked by filters and firewalls because it shares a server with adult content sites, reach out to us and we will help you out. Don’t lose valuable time by being blocked.
