WordPress Support Log: “Fatal error: Call to undefined function WPaaSAdminget_user_locale()” & “Fatal Error: Cannot use WPaaSPlugin”

By February 15, 2019October 16th, 2023No Comments

Today we had a support customer report the following error on their WordPress website that is hosted by GoDaddy:

Fatal Error: Cannot use WPaaSPlugin as Plugin because the name is already in use in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas04_data01/04/2919604/html/wp-content/mu-plugins/gd-system-plugin/includes/log/components/trait-plugin-helpers.php on line 5

Other customers have seen a similar error message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function WPaaSAdminget_user_locale() in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas02_data01/56/2697756/html/wp-content/mu-plugins/gd-system-plugin/includes/admin/class-walkme.php on line 103

Upon further inspection, we found that the error has affected many of GoDaddy’s managed hosting sites for 24+ hours: https://www.godaddy.com/community/Managed-WordPress-Hosting/Sudden-Fatal-error-on-my-site/m-p/37231

We resolved this issue for our GoDaddy customers by renaming their plugins directory, which resolved it. This is what we have found to be the quickest fix to resolution.
